The complete 1992-93 Hoops basketball set contains 490 standard-size cards. The set was released in two series of 350 and 140 cards, respectively. Both series packs contained 12 cards each with a suggested retail price of 79 cents each. Reported production quantities were 20,000 20-box wax cases of the first series and approximately 14,000 20-box wax cases of the second series. The basic card fronts display color action player photos surrounded by white borders. A color stripe reflecting one of the team's colors cuts across the picture and the player's name is printed vertically in a transparent stripe bordering the left side of the picture. The horizontally oriented backs carry a color head shot, biography, career highlights, and complete statistics (college and pro). The cards are checklisted below alphabetically according to teams. Subsets include Coaches (239-265), Team cards (266-292), NBA All-Stars East (293-305), NBA All-Stars West (306-319), League Leaders (320-327), Magic Moments (328-331), NBA Inside Stuff (332-333), NBA Stay in School (334-335), Basketball Tournament of the Americas (336-347) and Trivia (481-485). Rookie cards, scattered throughout the set, have a gold rather than a ghosted white stripe. The team logo appears in the lower left corner and intersects a team color-coded stripe that contains the player's position. The horizontal backs show a white background and include statistics (collegiate and pro), biographies, and career summaries. A close-up photo is at the upper left. Rookie Cards of note include Tom Gugliotta, Robert Horry, Christian Laettner, Alonzo Mourning, Shaquille O'Neal, Bobby Phills, Latrell Sprewell and Clarence Weatherspoon. A Magic Johnson "Commemorative Card" and a Patrick Ewing "Ultimate Game" card were randomly inserted in first series foil packs. One-thousand of each were autographed. The odds of pulling an autographed card were one in 14,400 packs. Also randomly inserted into second series foil packs were a Patrick Ewing Art card (reported odds were one per 21 packs), a Chicago Bulls Championship card (reported odds were one per 32 packs) and a John Stockton "Ultimate Game" card (reported odds were one per 92 packs). Stockton autographed 1,633 of these cards (reported odds were one per 5,732 packs). Also randomly inserted into first series packs was a USA Basketball Team card. Please note that this card exists with both a card number of USA and as a NNO. A Barcelona Plastic card was also randomly inserted in first series packs at a rate of approximately one per 720 packs.
