Released in February 2002, SPx features a 173-card set consisting of 90 base cards and 50 rookie players with three versions of card numbers 91-111. Rookie versions are differentiated as follows: version "A" has a blue background, version "B" has a green background, and version "C" has a red background. These cards are horizontally designed with a player photo, a swatch of a jersey, and a "cut signature" placed inside the card. Card numbers 91-105 are sequentially numbered to 800, and card numbers 106-111 are sequentially numbered to 250. The set was released without card numbers 112-120, and card numbers 121-140 feature a purple letter "R" on the left side of the card and player photos on the right, and are squentially numbered to 1999.
