Released in late August 2002, Topps boasts a 220-card set divided up into 184 veteran player cards and 35 rookie cards. Card numbers 179-183 showcase six league leaders, Western Conference players on the front and Eastern Conference players on the back, and card number 184 features the NBA Championship winning Lakers from the 2001-02 season. Base cards have blue borders, full color player action photos, and silver foil highlights along the bottom for the player's name, team name, and the Topps logo. Topps was packaged in three different ways: Hobby, Retail, and Home Team Advantage packs. Hobby cases contained eight boxes, where boxes contained 36 packs, and packs contained 10 cards and carried a suggested retail price of $1.49. Retail boxes contained 24 packs where packs contained 13 cards and carried a suggested retail price of $1.99, and HTA cases had 12 boxes, where boxes contained six packs, and packs contained 34 cards and carried a suggested retail price of $5.00. Also included in packs were the Around the World scratch-off cards. These cards had five foil scratch-off circles around a three point arc where three or more "Hits" were winners. The The 10 Grand Prize winners received autographed jersey, one uncut sheet of Topps Basketball and one copy of the Around the World set.
