The 1996 Upper Deck set was issued in one series totalling 300-cards. The 12-card packs originally retailed for $2.99 each. The set contains a 33-card Star Rookies subset and numerous insert sets. Also included as an insert, in both Collector's Choice and Upper Deck packs (1:4 packs), was a game piece for the Meet the Stars promotion. Each game piece featured multiple choice trivia questions about football. A collector could scratch of the box next to the answer that they felt best matched the question to determine if they won. Instant win game pieces were also inserted one in 72 packs. Winning game pieces could be sent to Upper Deck for prize drawings. The Grand Prize was a chance to meet Dan Marino. Prizes for 2nd through 4th were for Upper Deck Authenticated shopping sprees. The 5th prize was two special Dan Marino Meet the Stars cards.
