Set Description: Released in early December 2000, Black Diamond featured a 132-card base set consisting of 82 regular issue cards and 50 short printed Precious Gems cards divided up into three tiers. Tier 1, numbers 61-75 and 112-132, were sequentially numbered to 1999, tier 2, card numbers 76-84, were sequentially numbered to 1250, and tier 3, card numbers 85-90, were sequentially numbered to 500. Cards 91-132 were only available in packs of Upper Deck Rookie Update. Base cards were all foil and have colored borders along the top and bottom of the card to match each respective player's team colors. Black Diamond was packaged in 24-pack boxes with packs containing six cards and carried a suggested retail price of $3.99.
