This 700-card standard size set was the first football card set produced by Upper Deck. The set was released in two series. The first series contains 500 cards and the high-number series contains 200 additional cards numbered in continuation of the low series. Factory sets were produced for each series. Cards 72-99 feature team checklists with Vernon Wells drawings. Other subsets include Star Rookies (1-29), Aerial Threats (30-35), Season Leaders (401-406), Team MVP's (450-487), Rookie Force (AFC 601-626 and NFC 627-652) and an Arch Rivals subset with split-photo cards presenting one-on-one rivalries (653-658). Rookie Cards include Cody Carlson, Bryan Cox, Lawrence Dawsey, Ricky Ervins, Brett Favre, Jeff Graham, Alvin Harper, Randal Hill, Michael Jackson, Herman Moore, Bryce Paup, Erric Pegram, Mike Pritchard, Jake Reed, Leonard Russell, Ricky Watters and Harvey Williams. A Darrell Green insert (SP1) and an insert card commemorating Don Shula's historic 300th NFL victory (SP2) were randomly inserted in first and second series packs respectively. Two Promo cards were released to preview the set. We've listed them below, but they are not considered part of the complete set.
