After issuing 528-card sets since 1973, Topps dropped to 396 standard-size cards for 1983. The set was printed on four sheets. As a result, there are 132 double-printed cards which are noted in the checklist below by DP. The card fronts contain the player's name and position at the bottom in a rectangular area that differs in color according to team. Team names are in block letters at the top of the cards. The backs of the cards contain yearly statistics and a "Personal Facts" section. All the text is printed over a faint white team helmet. Subsets include Record Breakers (1-9), playoffs (10-12) and league leaders (202-207). The Team Leader (TL) cards are distributed throughout the set as the first card of the team sequence. The design of these cards differs from previous years in that only one leader (usually the team's rushing leader) is pictured. The backs contain team scoring information from the previous season. The team numbering is arranged alphabetically within each conference (with players ordered alphabetically within team). Rookie Cards include Marcus Allen, Gary Anderson (K), Todd Christensen, Roy Green, Jim McMahon, and Mike Singletary. Read Less »
