Set Description:
This set was produced and released in factory set form in 1985, 1987 and 1988. With a few exceptions, the majority of the cards in the factory sets are exactly the same therefore they are combined below. The 1985 set had 135 cards and the 1987 and 1988 sets had 142 cards. In the checklist below the variation cards are listed using the following convention, that the A (or first) variety is from 1985 and the B variety is the version that was released with the 1987 and 1988 sets. Cards 6-128 are essentially in alphabetical order by subject's name. The cards are standard size. The horizontal card backs are light green and black on white card stock. The card photos are in black and white inside two color borders. The outer, thicker border is gold metallic. The inner border is color coded according to the number of the card, red border (1-45), blue border (46-90), green border (91-135), and yellow border (136-144). The set is titled "Football Immortals" at the top of every cardfront. Since all members of the set are Football Hall of Famers, their year of induction is given on the front and back of each card.
