Set Description: The 1997 Ultra set was released in two series totaling 350 cards with a large number of insert sets. Hobby packs of Series 1 and Series 2 also contained one Gold Medallion parallel card per pack with a Platinum Medallion parallel replacing the Gold version in 1:100 packs. The cardbacks were printed with a blue tinted back for NFC players and green for AFC players. An equally printed brown colored cardback variation was also produced for each series one veteran card. Series 2 packs also included randomly inserted "Lucky 13" redemptions (expiration date 12/1/98) good for various Dan Marino signed collectibles including an embossed series 1 Ultra card as listed below. The cards were distributed in 24-pack hobby boxes with 10 cards per pack (2 inserts per pack) and a suggested retail price of $2.49.
