Set Description: The 1996 Playoff Contenders Pennants set was issued in one series totalling 100 cards. The three-card packs retail for $6.99 each, and contained one Pennant, one parallel Open Field Foil, and one parallel Leather card. The fronts of this Pennant set feature a color player image on a felt-like pennant shaped card with the player's name and team name on the back. The set is divided into three color-coded insertion ratios: 50 "Scarce" greens which are the most common, 25 "Rare" purples with a ratio of 1:11, and 25 "Ultra Rare" reds with a 1:22 ratio. These three colors refer to the Playoff logo on the cardfront that reads "1996 Pennants" and not the color of the actual felt on the front. The felt color can vary for the same player (but generally is a team color) as a number of different colors were used to produce the cards.
