Released in late September 2002, Upper Deck Hardcourt boasts a 135-card base set divided up into 90 veteran player cards and 45 rookie cards. The rookie cards were divided up into three tiers as follows: Hardcourt Futures Level III includes card numbers 91-120 where each card is sequentially numbered to 1999, Hardcourt Futures Level II includes card numbers 121-129 where each card is sequentially numbered to 1299, and Hardcourt Futures Level I includes card numbers 130-135 where each card is sequentially numbered to 799. Base card feature full color player action photos set on a true background with a white strip along the right side of the card running from top to bottom. The rookie cards have "wood" borders along the top and bottom of the card and the words, Hardcourt Futures. Each rookie card is sequentially numbered.
