Released in mid December 2002, Fleer Showcase consists of a 148-card set divided up as follows: 100 Row 3 Veteran Cards, numbers 1-100, 12 Row 2 Veteran Avant Cards, numbers 101-112, six Row 0 Veteran Avant Cards sequentially numbered to 1000, numbers 113-118, six Row 0 Rookie Avant Cards sequentially numbered to 500, numbers 119-124, and 24 Row 1 Rookie Cards sequentially numbered to 1500, card numbers 125-148. Base Row 3 and Row 1 cards have an embossed picture frame border with color's set to match the featured player's team colors with the team name, player name, and Fleer Showcase logo in bronze foil. Backgrounds are white with one-color minimalist portrait shots of players and full color action photos are set in front. Row 2 Avant cards have the embossed border and an embedded metallic photo that takes up the entire card front. Row 2 Avant Cards are highlighted with silver foil. Row 1 Avant Cards feature the same embossed border, but are cut with a glossy metallic photo of the player embedded on the left half of the card only and are highlighted with blue foil.
