Issued in March 2004, Platinum boasts a 200-card base set divided up as follows: 170 base veteran cards, where 1-141 share the same throwback design with a single color background and a sold color bar along the bottom, and cards 142-170 share an unsung heroes design that includes a close-up player portrait style shot and white borders. Cards 171-200 are rookies and utilize a design that resembles that of 1984 Fleer Baseball. Cards 171-180 are seeded at one in three for Wax, and one in two for Jumbo packs. Cards 181-190 were inserted in Wax packs only and are sequentially numbered to 750, and cards 191-200 were inserted in Jumbo packs only and are sequentially numbered to 500. Fleer Platinum was packaged in 20-pack boxes where 16 packs were Wax with seven cards per pack and a suggested retail price of $2.99 and four packs were Jumbo with 20 cards per pack and a suggested retail price of $4.99.
