Topps regionalized distribution of its 198-card standard-size set for 1981-82, and issued two types of wax boxes, commonly referred to as either "East" boxes or "West" boxes. There is no way to differentiate which type of box you have without opening the packs. While the first 66 cards of the set were distributed nationally in both pack types, cards numbered 67 East through 132 East and 67 West through 132 West were distributed regionally. The card fronts contain the Topps logo at the top, with team logo, player name and position at the bottom. The team name appears in large letters placed over the bottom portion of the photo. The backs feature player biographies and yearly statistics including minor leagues. As for the regionally distributed portions of the set, the card numbering is in order by team starting with Boston.
