Set Description: The 1999 Fleer Brilliants set was issued in June 1999 in one series for a total of 175 cards. The set was distributed in five-card packs with an original SRP of $4.99. The fronts feature color action player images on a black-and-white, high-contrast, super-bright mirror background printed on 24-point styrene card stock and laminated with radial-etched mirror foil. The set contains the Rookie subset (126-175) with an insertion rate in packs of 1:2. A promotional sample card featuring J.D. Drew was distributed to dealer accounts and hobby media a few months prior to the product's national release. This card can be easily identified by the "PROMOTIONAL SAMPLE" text running diagonally across the front and back. Notable Rookie Cards include Pat Burrell and Freddy Garcia.
