The 1998 SkyBox Dugout Axcess set was issued in one series totalling 150 cards. The 12-card packs retailed for $1.59 each. The set contains the topical subsets: The Insiders (1-90), Little Dawgs (91-120), 7th Inning Sketch (121-132), Name Plates (133-140), and Trivia Cards (141-150). Notable Rookie Cards include Magglio Ordonez. In addition, an Alex Rodriguez sample card was distributed to dealers and hobby media a few months prior to the release of the product. The card is identical to the standard 1998 SkyBox Axcess Alex Rodriguez except for the text 'PROMOTIONAL SAMPLE" diagonally written across the front and back. Also, Todd Helton signed 800 copies of his Little Dawgs subset card (number 120) for the 1999 Fleer Baseball Card Flipping Challenge. A total of 380 hobby shops participated in the program and each shop received two cards. One copy was intended to be given to the winner of each shop's card flipping tournament and the other one was to be kept by the shop owner as a gift for participating. Though the cards lack any serial numbering, they do feature an embossed SkyBox seal of authenticity and the print run was publicly released by the manufacturer. The additional 40 cards not used in the Flipping Challenge were mostly used as grab bag prizes at the 1999 MLB All-Star Fanfest in Boston. Read Less »
