Set Description: The 1979-80 O-Pee-Chee set consisted of 396 standard-size cards. Cards 81, 82, 141, 163, and 263 differed from that of the corresponding Topps issue. Wax packs had 14 cards plus a bubble-gum piece. The fronts featured distinctive blue borders (that are prone to chipping), while bilingual backs featured 1978-79 and career stats, a short biography and a cartoon-illustrated fact about the player. Team cards (#244-261) had checklist backs. The Rookie Card of Wayne Gretzky (No. 18) had been illegally reprinted. Most of the reprints were discovered and then destroyed or clearly marked as reprints. However some still exist in the market. The reprint is difficult to distinguish from the real card, hence, collectors and dealers should be careful.
