This 80-card boxed standard-size set recounts the story behind the PBS documentary "Baseball: The American Epic," produced by Ken Burns and sponsored by GM. The suggested retail price for the set, including the storage container, was 19.95. It was available from leading retail stores, the QVC television network, direct mail solicitation, and the Upper Deck Authenticated catalog. Like the documentary, the set is divided into "nine innings" and arranged chronologically as follows: 1st Inning (the 19th century [1-10], 2nd Inning (the 1900s [11-20], 3rd Inning (the 1910s [21-29], 4th Inning (the 1920s [30-39], 5th Inning (the 1930s [40-49], 6th Inning (the 1940s [50-56], 7th Inning (the 1950s [57-64], 8th Inning (the 1960s [65-71], and 9th Inning (1970-present [72-80]. Three insert cards were included with the set. A Michael Jordan card was available for direct mail customers, a Babe Ruth card for retail customers and a Mickey Mantle card for QVC customers. These cards are horizontal, full-bleed cards with black and white player photos. The backs are black and white with player information. The set price applies to either of the three versions and includes either of the three inserts. Recently, some autographs of Mickey Mantle from this set have surfaced on one of the home shopping channels. Since no information on how these cards were issued, or whether they were actually inserted into packs is available we are not pricing or listing this card at this point. Any further information on this card is appreciated.
