Set Description from Beckett Database
The 1989 NFL Franchise Game was produced by Rohrwood Enterprises of Loveland, Colorado. The game is modeled after Monopoly, in that players begin with a sum of money (54.5 million dollars) and travel around the board, acquiring "property" (i.e., players) in exchange for money. The object of the game is to build a team of 23 players who fill all the different positions required by the team and who are under contract. The game cards measure approximately 3" by 3 1/2" and feature action player photos with rounded corners and white borders. Some collectors have observed a variation in photographic quality. The player's name and team appear above the picture, while the draft round, number of points player is worth to the franchise, and his salary are printed below the picture. The card backs display a teal panel printed with the home cities of NFL teams. A large numeral or acronym appears in the center of the panel. The player's position is printed across the top. The cards are unnumbered and checklisted below alphabetically acccording to and within teams. In addition to these player cards, the set includes 28 unnumbered team cards displaying the team helmet and 13 generic coaches' cards. Read Less »
