Set Description: This 601-card set was distributed in two separate series. Series 1 was released in late May, 2001 with cards distributed in 10-card hobby packs with a suggested retail price of $2.99 and a 25-card jumbo pack for $9.99. Series 2 (entitled Platinum RC edition) was released in late December, 2001. The set features player photos printed in the original 1981 Fleer design. The first series contains 250 regular cards plus 31 dual short printed cards (251-280/301) and 20 All-Star cards (281-300) both with an insertion rate of 1:6 in the hobby packs and 1:2 in the jumbo packs. The second series set contains 300 cards composed of basic (302-401), Chart Toppers (402-431), Team Leaders (432-461), Franchise Futures (462-481), Postseason Glory (482-501) and Rookies (502-601), seeded at a rate of 1:3 packs). Notable Rookie Cards include Ichiro, Albert Pujols and Mark Tiexeira. According to representatives at Fleer, card 529 (Mark Prior RC) and card 402 (Freddy Garcia CT) were mistakenly switched with each other on the printing forms - thereby making card 402 a short-print (available at the same ratio as cards 502-601) and card 529 a basic card (available at the same rate as cards 302-501).
