These card-size "books" measure approximately 2 1/2" by 3 3/8". The set was issued in four different boxes, with 12 different mini-books in each box. Each book consists of eight pages, including the front and back covers. The front cover features a borderless color player photo, with the player's above the picture in the team's color stripe. Pages 2 and 3 have a color "mug shot" of the player, biographical information, team logo, and career highlights. A color stripe runs across the bottom of each page, with the team name in white lettering. Pages 4 and 5 have a "personal story" about the player. Page 6 has career statistics (college and pro), while page 7 features a borderless color action photo. The top half of the back cover has another color player photo, with a player quote below the picture. An additional special collect-a-book chronicles the Detroit Piston's march to consecutive NBA World Championships. It was available free to consumers only through an offer on second series 1990-91 Hoops packs; fans could receive two booklets free, and additional booklets could be purchased for 50 cents each. The eight-page Pistons booklet features four color photos of the Pistons' top players, a three-page story recapping the team's 1989 and 1990 championship seasons, and playoff statistics for each player.
